Employment Services

Candeo stands out from its competitors by investing time into discovering client’s strengths, which then leads to careers for their clients. They have always only provided competitive employment and have a strong, person-centered program.

Employment often is part of our identity as citizens. Not only for the income, but for the contribution we make to our employer and our community. It’s no different for people with disabilities; employment is an integral part of who they are.

Candeo’s employment team works with local employers to bridge the gap of understanding, while providing a viable pool of employees. Employers who hire via Candeo’s employment services learn about various disabilities and how to successfully supervise people with disabilities. If necessary, they may receive assistance with job accommodations and job coaching.

Employers find great satisfaction in being a part of a process that allows Candeo’s clients to become who they are and to shine brilliantly.

Angie

Angie is an amazing success story and one of Candeo’s first individuals to receive services. Angie’s mother, Carol is also a founding board member and served for the first 10 years of Candeo’s life.

Angie is a bright, energetic young woman who loves people and will be sure to bring a smile to your face because she herself is always smiling. She enjoys playing sports and participated in Courage League softball this fall. When spending time with friends she likes to bowl, go out to eat, and play cards. She is an active member in Prairie Ridge Church and also enjoys going to the library and shopping. Angie is an avid Disney fan and has seen many of the Disney movies. Angie also annually attends the Night to Shine where she enjoys hanging out with friends and dancing the night away!

Angie works at Fitness World and has been an employee since 2014! She assists staff and customers by helping keep the machines clean, assisting with laundry and bringing her beautiful smile to the establishment.

One of Angie’s greatest accomplishments was the day she transitioned from receiving 24-hour supports to living more independently with only intermittent supports. She and her staff worked hard to ensure that she gained her safety skills so she could enjoy a higher level of independence. Angie is currently in the process of purchasing her own condominium, another great feat for this amazing lady!

Angela

Angela is a valued member of the community, as well as Candeo’s Office Team. Angela serves as Human Resources Recruiting Assistant in the Candeo reception area, where she warmly greets patrons and guides them through the application process. She recently added a new role at Candeo in Public Relations and you can hear her story if you join us for a Shining Brightly Together Luncheon.

Angela also fills her days volunteering at the Iowa Department for the Blind, which she has been involved in intermittently since 1993. Her skills in Braille Production lend themselves very well to this volunteer work.

Angela absolutely loves to travel, both internationally and domestically. She has had the opportunity to spend time abroad in Norway, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas. Nationally, Angela has visited Florida, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska (among others). Angela hopes to continue to gain independence in all aspects of her life!
